Bishop Charles E. Blake to speak at Nebraska Jurisdictional Holy Convocation

The Nebraska Jurisdiction Church of God In Christ will celebrate 92 years of history in the state of Nebraska starting August 3-7, 2009. As they celebrate this milestone, Jurisdictional Prelate, Bishop J.O. Ford, Sr., welcomes the International Presiding Prelate of the Church of God In Christ, Bishop Charles Edward Blake as guest speaker at their 92^nd Annual Holy Convocation.  Bishop Charles E. Bishop Blake is a worldwide humanitarian, Founder and CEO of Save Africa’s Children (SAC), an African-American founded organization, providing direct support to children affected by HIV/AIDS, poverty and war throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Bishop Blake was also one of four religious leaders to participate in the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) Ecumenical Service. President Barack Obama has appointed Bishop Blake to serve as a member of the Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnership. Currently Bishop Blake is the Senior Pastor of West Angeles Church of God In Christ (COGIC) where he pastors over 26,000 members in Los Angeles, CA.

Other guest includes, Pastor Loran Mann of Pittsburg, PA., former news anchor/reporter for WIIC/WPXI (NBC affiliate) in Pittsburg, now pastoring at Pentecostal Temple COGIC in Pittsburg. Pastor Keith Newton, a recording artist and pastor of Christian Tabernacle COGIC in Kansas City, MO, will be our special musical guest.

This is such a momentous occasion, other religious leaders from surrounding states, local, and state civic leaders will be present to celebrate with the Church of God In Christ, as we embark on 92 years of history in Nebraska. The Holy Convocation will start with a Pre-Musical, August 1, 2009, 7:30 p.m. and continue from August 3-7, 2009, 7:30 p.m. nightly, at Joy of Life Ministries, 6401 North 56^th Street, Omaha, Nebraska. A Witness to the Promise

We are excited about the 91st Annual Nebraska Jurisdiction Church of God In Christ, Holy Convocation. Starting August 2, 4-8, 2008.

The Convocation begins with a Pre-Musicial Workshop with Gospel Recording Artist, Michael & Gina Thurston of Chicago, IL.  The workshop will be facilitated by Supt. Michael Thurston on Saturday, August 2, 2008 from 12 noon – 3 p.m. for a low cost of $5.00 including lunch. This workshop is for all church musicians and choir members. The location is Christ Cathedral COGIC, 2508 S 25th Street, Bellevue, NE

The youth will have an event at Tabernacle of Faith COGIC, 2404 Fort St, Omaha, NE on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 6 p. m .

The Holy Convocation will take place August 4-8, 2008 at Tabernacle of Faith join us, our guest speaker is International COGIC General Secretary, Bishop J. H. Lyles, Jr. of Greater Maryland First Jurisdiction.
